Orenda

My Roles & Responsibilities
Gameplay & Level Designer, Project Producer

- In charge of overall team progress & conveying design ideas to artists.

- Designed skill mechanics and level flow.

- Implemented art assets, sound and particle effects. 

Gameplay of Orenda

​

Orenda is a 2D top down game where players play as a necromancer whose family got massacred by the tribes.

​

The goal of the game is to collect all scrolls from each tribe in order to resurrect her family.

​

Orenda makes use of her resurrection skill to make fallen tribe members revive as her minions, in order to fight for her.

Main mechanic- Space bar

Resurrect fallen enemies as minions and control them.

Able to have up to 6 minions at one time.

Game Mechanics

Skills- Hotkeys 1-3

Create an attribute totem which buffs minions' ATTACK, DEFENSE or MOVEMENT SPEED respectively within a range.

​

Able to stack any totem's effect up to a maximum of 3.

Effect multiplies if same totem

are stacked within.

Skills- Hotkey 4

Area of effect which stuns enemies for a few seconds.

​

Skills- Hotkey 5

Area of effect which repels enemies.

​

Goal

Defeat bosses from each tribe to attain scroll pieces which are required in order to resurrect Orenda's family.

​

Look for keys around the area to unlock gates to certain tribes.

​

Enemies

Each tribe has their own style of combat and bosses are enlarged, powered up

versions of themselves with a different colour scheme.

Bosses appear in each area when a certain number of enemies are defeated.

​

Spear

Short-range enemy with a quick, area of effect medium damage.

​

​

Fish hook

Long-range enemy with quick, low damage targeting 1 opponent.

Able to drag enemies towards them.

​

​

Blow dart

Long-range enemy with high damage targeting 1 opponent.

​

​

Shaman

Mid-range enemy with an area of effect low damage and healing.

Transitions between two skill properties, damages opponents and heals teammates.

  • Key & Scroll
         - Translucent UI which only appear opaque              when obtained.
     

  • Skill bar
         - Skills 1-5 appear when they are learnt and            have hovering tooltips while the Resurrect            skill, being the main mechanic is                            positioned above center.
     

  • Health bar
        - Red bar to indicate the player's current                health
     

  • Minion control buttons
        - Select All and Deselect All minions for                  easier control.
     

  • Hearts
        - Max of 3 lives till game over, permanent              death.
