What's Going On?
Problem
- The fact that many people in this world are ignorant to news and incidents around them may be due to it not affecting their daily lives.
-
Ignorance is a bad habit that many people have. This leads to a lack of understanding and knowledge which results in people being careless or naive.
Purpose of Application
-
“What’s Going On” aims to give awareness of incidents around the user’s region and make it a habit to be updated on what is happening, such as events.
-
It makes use of the fact that it is region-based, thus people will naturally be more curious since the incidents are happening around them and may affect them eventually.
-
It also acts as immediate awareness instead of an article to chance upon.

Testing & Iteration
There were 2 playtesting sessions done in order to improve on the application. The initial ones were mostly improvements on the concepts to the wireframe sketches. After another wireframe testing with 6 individuals, I improved the design further for the final product mockups.
- Removed Add Event and Report Incident buttons from the main UI; the main page and sidebar. I will be adding these under the Events and Incidents page so that it is easier to navigate.
- Also added a new region selection function under Maps so that users are able to read up on incidents happening in other regions as well, this will be useful if the user plans to travel there.
